Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is at the core of what we do at both Range Northcote and Range Preston. With a philosophy focused on treating the cause, not just the symptoms, we embrace both the art and science of physio to gain insights into your physical health and to maximise your range.

We are an experienced team of physios who are passionate about the profession and stay up to date on the latest treatment options and advice for our clients. Our goal is to improve the health of our wonderful local communities of Northcote, Preston and the surrounding suburbs of Melbourne’s Inner North.

To help you move and feel better, we are committed to honest and authentic communication to help you understand what is causing your symptoms and how long it will take to get better. We will help you navigate the process in order to achieve a  full recovery. This requires persistence and it may seem that once the pain is gone, the injury is gone, however often this is where the recovery process actually begins. We will guide you through to a sustainable recovery.

If you are a private client, you don’t need a GP referral to see us so get in touch with us today.

Our Philosophy

A balanced approach to exercise

A good physical health routine is like a balanced diet; it should include a range of different components. Each week we recommend getting a dose of each of these four types of exercise.

1

Strength Training

Well balanced so as not to create or add to any imbalances. Good examples are functional strength training and resistance training involving lifting, pushing and pulling. We recommend two or more days a week to improve your range.

2

Aerobic Activity

Targeting your cardiovascular system using both steady state and interval training. Examples are walking, running, swimming or circuits. The recommended range is 150-300 minutes a week – we can assist you to develop a balanced program to achieve this.

3

Flexibility, Mobility & Posture

Examples are stretches, mobility exercises, foam rolling, Pilates and yoga. Frequency depends on the individual body type, injuries and your personal goals. The Range team will develop a program best suited for you.

4

Sport & Play

Playing sports is a fantastic way to keep in shape and to put all that strength and flexibility you’ve been working on in action! Agility, skill and multi-plane movement are all part of the mix. We’ve got you covered on a wide range of sports including tennis, football, hockey, basketball, cricket and running.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor to attend your practice?

No, generally you do not need a referral from your doctor to see a physiotherapist.

However, you do require a referral if:

  1. You are claiming a Medicare rebate under an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC). Your EPC will state how many treatment sessions be allocated to physiotherapy. A maximum of 5 sessions can be approved per calendar year, across ALL allied health practitioners (not just physio).
  2. You are claiming your consultations under Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA).

Do you accept Private Health Insurance (PHI)?

Yes, we offer on the spot claiming through our Tyro terminal. If you forget your PHI card, we can email or print your receipt so you can claim with your PHI. All the details you need for claiming are listed on your receipt.

How long are the consultations?

Initial Physiotherapy consultations are 45 minutes. Suited to new clients, clients returning with a new injury, or returning clients with a gap in treatment greater than 3 months.

Standard Physiotherapy consultations are 30 minutes. Ideal for the treatment of one injury.

Extended Physiotherapy consultations are 45 minutes. Ideal for the treatment of two injuries.

Please note that all consultations are inclusive of time required for your physiotherapist to write an exercise program, report, certification, referral and letters.

You can book online here.

Do you offer Bulk Bill Medicare appointments (no out-of-pocket fee)?

You may be eligible for up to five allied health services each calendar year if you obtain a valid EPC referral from your GP. One service type (for example, five physiotherapy services) or a combination of several service types can make up the five allied health services (e.g. one dietetic and four podiatry services). The legal maximum per patient is five services per calendar year, and exceptions are not permitted.

We are a mixed billing practice. Clients will be required to pay the full fee of their consultation, this will subsequently be offset by the Medicare rebate of $61.80 through the Tyro terminal.

If you suffer from financial stress, please do not hesitate to contact us to see if we can help.
